Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

The Project Manager will support DOD manufacturing projects at AMSC’s Ayer and Westminster facilities. This role will develop and manage schedules, data submittals, and customer support. 

Functions:

  • Responsible for oversight of multiple projects.
  • Interface to sales and marketing for generating specifications and evaluating customer requirements. Interface to customers to coordinate and schedule concurrent development activities and report project status.
  • Interface to Software & Hardware Engineering for schedule and manpower planning.
  • Will take leadership role in the compilation of project schedules, task and project completion time estimates, specifications, test plans, equipment purchases, release of related documentation, and other duties as assigned.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities: 

The successful candidate will work as part of the SPS production group vacuum processing, leak checking and measuring various components and systems. The types of equipment are as follows:  gas / vacuum control and handling equipment, cryogenic equipment, and various equipment used in the production of SPS products. Knowledge of vacuum systems and related vacuum components is required.

Functions:

  • Knowledge of machine assembly, vacuum, component level troubleshooting and wiring required.
  • Day-to-day activities of this position include set up and breakdown of systems/product, preventive maintenance, unplanned maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment/product issues.
  • Must be able to follow written policies, procedures, and/or work instructions to complete critical vacuum processing, leak check, and critical measurement activities.
  • Long-term projects include equipment upgrades and implementation.

Education – Experience:

  • AS degree in relatable field and/or 5 – 10 years of demonstrated relevant manufacturing experience.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

  • Serve customers by providing product installation, commissioning, maintenance, service, and instructions, primarily on-site
  • Resolve product and service problems which require an on-site presence
  • Start-up, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of Northeast Power Systems products, such as capacitor banks and filter banks, MVTVSS, snubbers, and MSP’s.
  • Ensure Northeast Power Systems products comply with, and are installed according to final build documentation, customer requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain records by ensuring updating of product drawings, setup information and account information to reflect any changes made in the field.

Summary – Job Responsibilities – Activities:

Position Summary: Provide design efforts from proposal stage through production both in new product designs and existing product designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the engineering progress of assigned projects from inception to shipment, including: working with mechanical engineering department, transformer engineer, manufacturing engineer, production manager, project manager, and planning to achieve milestone dates. 
  • Monitor the engineering progress of project through all stages. Order long delivery items.  Organize periodic meetings to review progress of project. 
  • Work with engineering director on higher level requirements such as cooling systems designs, harmonic filter designs, transformer damage curves control systems and custom designs, and assist supervisor with finding out details on other projects, as needed. 
  • Design power supplies per customer’s specs and Neeltran quotes. Create wiring diagrams, outline drawings and bill of materials for project assigned. Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to Neeltran.
  • Interact with mechanical engineering staff on mechanical design. Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have.  
  • Perform all necessary calculations such as transformer parameters, SCR selection, efficiency, rectifier circuit analysis, etc.
  • Perform liaison function between Electrical Engineering and all manufacturing operations for any related issues, problems or improvements. Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regard to our products.
  • Prepare preliminary design proposals and proposal documents. Participate in engineering and general design review meetings for assigned projects. Refine designs after review meeting.  Coordinate as required with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales/customer service, production, accounting, and service. Prepare technical documents.
  • Meet and beat labor/budget hours on assigned projects and meet schedule to assure on time shipments. Increase efficiencies and productivity within engineering departments and maximize gross margin. Continuously improve quality, workflow and efficiency.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings to identify root cause of problems and identify potential solutions. Make recommendations for ME/EE Design Guidebook and assist in documenting issues and solutions.

Fabricate, assemble, and repair sheet steel and structural steel assemblies.

Functions:

  • Selects gauge and type of sheet metal according to drawings provided
  • Read specifications, blueprints, and job orders as required for proper assembly.
  • Cut, bend, grind, trim, notch, punch, de-burr, clean, and weld sheet steel and structural steel using appropriate machines and hand tools.
  • Plan, lay-out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal parts, products and equipment, utilizing knowledge of working characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials, machining and lay-out techniques, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Select gauge and type of sheet metal such as galvanized, stainless, or other in accordance with requirements.
  • Layout and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and lay-out techniques to develop and trace patterns.
  • Sets up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, and presses to cut and bend materials.
  • Trim, file, grind, buff, and smooth surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools.

Assemble, modify, test, and adjust custom mechanical assemblies and apparatus applying knowledge of various assembly techniques and referring to shop drawings and instructions.

Functions:

  • Lifting to 75 pounds may be required.
  • Read and understand blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, mechanical prints, assembly and schematic drawings, and receive verbal instructions on work to be performed.
  • Fasten, align, and mount parts, components, relays, using hand and power tools. Route and terminate cables.
  • Attach hardware using nuts, bolts, rivets, screws, or other methods. Cut, bend, grind, de-burr, and mount bus bar.
  • Examine parts/ components that are installed to verify they are free from damage and defects. Notify supervisor if found.
  • Operate basic hand tools, saws, punches, grinders, drills.
  • Clean equipment, wipe clean, vacuum, or blow out metal chips and dirt. Perform work duties as assigned.
  • Clean up shop area of tools and work at the end of each shift.

  • Must be able to perform work duties as assigned and perform a variety of assembly duties which may change often. 
  • Plan, lay-out, assemble, and install components and assemblies within fabricated steel assemblies per shop drawings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, control drawings, or products specifications to determine sequence and methods of assembly, basic wiring, and installing of components and hardware. 
  • Ensures proper components are installed in appropriate sequence, per established methods, instructions, and drawings.
